2018 – The Future of Learning

Singapore, 23 October 2018—SAPE will hold its 4th Annual Conference event this Thursday Themed “The Future of Learning”, the event aims to attract over 200 educators, practitioners and policymakers in the private education industry. Speakers from the sector and professionals from across industries representing institutions and companies like NIE, NUS, UOB Group, Sharp Electronics Singapore, Design Business Chamber Singapore, RSM and Tribal Group, will take on topics ranging from data and design thinking in Industry 4.0, to discussions about areas for continual improvement within the sector, and ways in which to instil steadfast lifelong learning attitudes amongst students.

Newly elected President of SAPE, Mr Viva Sinniah, also the Executive Chairman of private education institution (PEI) PSB Academy, will give the welcome address at the event, and talk about how SAPE will channel efforts to facilitate greater collaborations with industry to take on the challenges of the modern workplace.

Mr Patrick Tay Teck Guan, Member of Parliament, West Coast GRC & Assistant Secretary- General NTUC has been invited as the event’s Guest-of-Honour. He highlighted the importance for the private education sector to embrace Industry 4.0 to look at how they can value add to the continuing education and training eco-system to build future-ready and employable individuals who are able, agile and adaptable.

Keynote speaker at the event, Mr Brandon Lee, Director-General (Private Education) SkillsFuture Singapore, will share his perspective on the changes and emerging trends in the private education sector and how Private Education Institutions in the sector can level up. He will also share on CPE’s approach towards the sector over the years and how this will evolve as the sector transforms.

Highlights of the event will include the signing of two Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) with the Silver Ribbon (Singapore) and Pearson Education South Asia. The collaboration with Silver Ribbon, a counselling service, will be first-of-its-kind in the private education (PE) sector—both institutions will commit to providing complimentary psycho-emotional support to staff and students of SAPE members, provide internship opportunities for students, and customise trainings and seminars for individual SAPE members to improve mental wellness within the PEI community. In a commitment to continual professional development of educators within the PE sector, Pearson Education is committing to supporting SAPE in delivering workshops and seminars organised by SAPE which will be offered free to teaching staff of SAPE institution members.
